Justice for Elijah McClain

Elijah McClain from Aurora was the essentially the same age as our Elijah in Denver, a few miles over. They were both young and smiling Black men with loving friends and family, and given his name and proximity, his killing hit closer to home.

I took this photo earlier this summer, about two years after Elijah M.’s untimely and unnecessary death.

The walking bridge by the Evans and Colorado light rail stop in Denver, July 2021. The spray paint reads, « Justice for Elijah. » PC: KSB

Colorado remembers.

With this week’s indictments, we might have seen a little piece of that justice come. As Elijah’s dad is quoted in the article below, “Nothing will bring back my son, but I am thankful that his killers will finally be held accountable.”

Use whatever news outlet you want to verify the rulings. Hopefully indictments turn into convictions. Continue grieving as needed. Stop killing Black people.
